I'm tired of saying things like "I want to go to bed..." or "I want ice cream." Don't get me wrong, it's good to say what you want. How are you going to get what you want if you don't ever ask? But for things that you can accomplish yourself - like losing weight, enhancing a talent, or reaching your dreams - you shouldn't have to ask. You should be able to say to yourself, and to whoever asks, "I will lose weight..." or "I will learn to play the piano."
When you say things like "I will..." then you are more likely to believe you can accomplish whatever thing it is you said you will do. People who simply want things generally don't do anything to progress toward their dreams. They spend all of their time wishing and waiting and wanting. If they actually did something with their time instead of sitting around hoping something would change their situation they might actually get what they want.
"I want a nicer car" - Okay, so what are you going to do to get a nicer car? Are you going to wait around praying God will somehow make a Porsche appear in your driveway? Yeah, and I'm praying that Bill Gates gives all his money to a random stranger who just happens to have my social security number. You have to work to have that nicer car. You have to save money, plan and research what car you want, look at insurance...etc. It's not just going to be handed to you because you want it. If you say "I will have a nicer car" that implies that you're already working toward getting a nicer car and you believe you will get one.
"I want to be a better person" - So what? Are you doing anything to be a better person or are you just sitting back and hoping you'll wake up and miraculously change into a 21st Century Florence Nightingale? I mean, as cool as that would be, not all of us have the stomach for gory wounds. Say something like "I will be a better person" to yourself. Even if you don't believe it right now, it's good to say it - out loud - because eventually you will believe it.
I'm not saying you should go around telling everyone you meet that "I will be rich," or "I will be way sexier than you!" but I don't think saying it to yourself is bad. If you believe it, that's what matters.
This does not mean that you are better than anyone else! That is completely false information and if that's what you're taking from this post, you should forget this entire thing immediately. If you're telling yourself "I will rule the world" stop reading and go get some professional help - now!
For the rest of you: I hope this brought a little insight into the way I think and how I think people can be happier if they would believe they can change and will change instead of just wanting to change.

Spring Break - Part Two
It rained today. I miss the sun. I've been thinking about my fabulous spring break in the warm, sunny weather. I finally got the cord to my camera so I could upload pictures from that my friend and I took at the beach. I looked at the pictures and it made me miss the sun even more.

I absolutely love the beach! I want to go back tomorrow. I want to soak up the sun and sing happy songs and get some Vitamin D. I'm so tired of the cold and the rain. I can't wait until summertime. And yes, part of that is because I will no longer have to go to school.

Benefits of Laziness
Can I just say that I love Spring Break? I know it's the last day of Spring Break and everything, but I am never going back to school. Forget graduation in four weeks; forget getting a job. I'm going to become a couch-potato because this is the life.
Benefit #1: You can stay in your PJ's ALL day and guess what? No one cares! I think this is my third night in a row getting dressed after 5:00 p.m.
Benefit #2: You can eat chocolate ALL day and guess what? That's right, no one cares! Although if you're like me and allergic to chocolate you might want to take it easy. Benefit #3: Gilmore Girls. "I'm going to make out in the coat room - don't eat my chicken." -Lorelei "That's going on your tombstone." -Rory
Who wouldn't want to watch this show?
Benefit #4: The apartment can be a mess and...no one cares! Except me...but I need professional help.Benefit #5: You can surf the web attempting to do homework and find out that they're making a Hunger Games movie. Yay!
Benefit #6: Naps. Do I really need to explain this?
Benefit #7: You finally have time to cook meals instead of just make a sandwich like you normally do. And while, yes, part of the reason you cooked this week is because you didn't have any bread or microwaveable or oven meals...doesn't mean you didn't enjoy it.
But the biggest Benefit of Being Lazy is Benefit #8: The whole being lazy thing? A fantastic no-stress plan to get you up and moving for either the next day or week. Seriously. Try it. If there's one thing I don't joke about it's...well, kids and obesity...but I really am serious this time.
Hmm...on second thought, maybe I won't get dressed tonight. I mean, what's the point? I'm just going to bed in three hours anyway, right? Right.
See? Another benefit - you don't have to get ready for bed because you never got ready for the day. The list just keeps on going and going and going and going....

My Mind
Have you ever had that feeling where you want to go to bed but you just have so much on your mind that you know there's no way you'll ever get to sleep? That's what happened to me last night.
I stayed up until 2:00 a.m. last night. I had so much on my mind that my eyes wouldn't close, and I felt like I could run for miles. And I hate running.
#1 A job - I graduate in a few weeks and I have no idea what I'll be doing with the rest of my life. I want a job. A good job. An amazing job. One that I can gain experience and eventually turn into my dream job. Will I get that job? Maybe not... Right now I'll settle for a job I won't hate waking up in the morning for.
#2 Boys - because let's face it...when are boys not on my mind?
#3 Homework - Spring break was exactly what I needed to get the motivation to start on the hours/weeks of homework I have left. So why don't I want to get started?
#4 Taylor Lautner - Is he dating anyone and how can that work in my favor?
#5 Cleaning - I'm a clean freak and my apartment is a mess. It might be okay by "normal" people's standards but it is not okay for me. I just don't have the motivation to clean it because I stayed up until 2:00 a.m. last night!
I better get to work on my list of things. I think I'll start with #4...

Spring Break
I love traveling!
My friend and I went to Las Vegas and Santa Ana for a few days. It was one of the best and most relaxing vacations I've ever had. We were constantly on the go, but we still had a great time. On the ride down these high school boys hit on us. They put their phone number up to their car window and motioned to call them. We just laughed it was so hilarious.
In Vegas we rode the rides on the Stratosphere, screaming the whole way up...and down. That night we went to Phantom and all I can say is - amazing. The set was incredible and the actors had great voices. I still love the movie, but the stage play was incredible.
Vegas was a lot warmer than California, but it was nice to hang out on the beach for a few hours. We saw the sun set from the beach and it was beautiful. I got so many great pictures and I can't wait to get them printed. The sunset was the perfect backdrop for our photographs.
I'm so happy I got the opportunity to go on vacation with one of my best friends. I will definitely do that again!

Starting a Blog
But why? Why start a blog? No one reads them...right? Yet, I've found myself reading blogs more and more lately and I have no idea why. Until recently I considered it a waste of my "valuable" time in which I could be doing something productive...like watching TV. So why am I starting a blog? Because. That's why.
I need to write more. I haven't been writing as often as I would like and I think it's starting to take it's toll. I had to write a letter to the University today and I needed to edit out my sarcastic comments. Writing! I love writing! Why shouldn't I write about whoever or whatever pops into my mind? If I want to write about Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs, I will, dang it! This is stuff that is way too exciting to include in a journal, but not exciting enough to publish in the newspaper. Some stuff, I just need to write about just because I want to write. Alright? All right.
xoxo,
Jessie
P.S. I've decided to sign all of my letters to the blogging world "xoxo" because I am an All-American Girl.
